GFA roundup: Boys lacrosse wins pair

Boys Lacrosse

The Dragons (4-3) won both of their games last week. First, GFA took down Chase Collegiate 12-0 April 16. Junior goalie Riley Grady earned his first shutout with eight saves while Max Tarika scored six goals.

GFA then defeated Hamden Hall 8-2 April 19. Grady stopped eight of ten shots, Tarika had three goals and Conor Eckert had two. The win extended the Dragons winning streak to three games.

Girls Lacrosse

GFA (5-2) defeated Kingswood Oxford School 13-4 April 16. The Dragons defense held Kingswood scoreless in the first half. Campbell Goldsmith was the high scorer with five goals, while Tia Carson (Westport) and Kaitlin Ball each added three goals.

The Dragons fell to Holy Child 14-7 April 17.GFA was outscored 10-1 in the half.

Boys Tennis

GFA (3-0) defeated Hamden Hall 7-0 April 16. All GFA players won in straight sets. Singles players Gabe Tishman, Kyle Wolfe, Cole Rummelsburg and Reilly Carter earned victories.

Girls Tennis

The Dragons (1-2) earned their first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Hamden Hall April 16. Leading the pack at No. 1 singles, GFA's eighth grader Devon Wolfe dropped just one game on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 win. Senior co-captains Frankie Garofalo and Emily Cahill each won their match at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively without losing a game. In doubles, junior Avery Wolfe and senior Georgie Garner (Westport) improved their season record to 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Playing together for the first time, freshmen Blair Marine and Clara McGrath won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Seniors Chloe Perlen (Westport) and Shelby Marcus rounded out GFA's doubles sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3.


The GFA Sailing team squared off against Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School at Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich, CT last week. GFA defeated Greenwich Academy 2-0 but lost to Brunswick School 0-2. Seniors Andrew McCarthy, Allie Nixon, and Charlotte Frank led the team with help from sophomore Caroline Booth (Westport), sophomore Eliza Nixon, junior Lily McGonagle, sophomore Josh Gleason, freshman Joe Bentham, and freshman Tyler Green.


GFA (1-4) lost 12-0 to Hamden Hall April 16.


GFA lost 10-0 to Rye Country Day School April 16. Jeremy Platt (Westport) went 2-for-2.
