Kiddie porn guilty plea gets Westport man 27 months in jail

STAMFORD — A Westport man pleaded guilty to possession of kiddie porn and will be sentenced to more than two years in jail when he returns to court in September.

Daniel Krulewitch, 53, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of second-degree possession of child pornography at the Stamford courthouse Friday and accepted a plea agreement that will land him in prison for 27 months.

Standing next to his attorney Mark Sherman, Krulewitch also agreed to being put on the sex offender registry for 10 years.

“My client is looking forward to putting this part of the process behind him. It is another lesson in that the internet can be a dangerous place,” Sherman said.

Krulewitch was arrested in May 2017 more than a year after Westport police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a residence in Westport was uploading child pornography.

This tip led police to Krulewitch and the search of his electronic devices where they found between 20 and 50 images of child pornography, Stamford State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo said during Krulewitch’s hearing Friday morning.

Krulewitch was was released following his arrest after posting a $100,000 court appearance bond.
