WESTPORT - A 52-year-old Bridgeport man has been arrested in the theft of a bicycle from the Saugatuck railroad station in September.
Miguel Lopez was charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy and failure to appear in court.
Westport Police Department had received two complaints of stolen bicycles from two separate victims.
Both victims reported that these bicycles had been stolen from the rack located at the Saugatuck Railroad Station. Surveillance video was captured of these thefts showing two male suspects. Through investigation and information sharing with other agencies, both suspects were positively identified.
One of the two was identified as Miguel Lopez, who had been captured on video removing a bicycle valued at $300. An arrest warrant was sought and granted for Lopez in connecting with this incident.
On Wednesday, the Westport Police Department was contacted by the Bridgeport Police Department.
Bridgeport Police were reporting that Miguel Lopez was currently being held in their custody on this agency’s active arrest warrant. Computer checks of Lopez also showed that he was the subject of a court ordered warrant for failure to appear.
This was issued in connection with a separate prior arrest by the Bridgeport Police Department. Lopez was transported to Westport Police headquarters
