NEW CANAAN — Two more employees of the New Canaan YMCA have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a letter sent to members on Thursday.
According to the letter, one employee works in the Y’s Rainbow Station child care center and was last at the Y on Tuesday, while the other employee works in our Kids Unlimited after-school program and was last at the Y on Monday.
Neither employee lives in New Canaan, according to the YMCA.
The affected classrooms will be closed for 14 days and will undergo an additional deep cleaning in accordance with the guidelines set by the Office of Early Childhood, the letter said.
Teachers and participants of the Rainbow Station classroom and those who were in the Kids Unlimited program on Monday have been advised by the New Canaan Health Department to self-quarantine and will not be using the Y for at least this 14-day period, the letter stated.
“Since reopening, both of these programs have been strictly following Office of Early Childhood (OEC) guidelines, which are in place to help prevent transmission,” according to the YMCA.
An employee of the Rainbow Station child care center tested positive for COVID-19 in July.
A member of the New Canaan High basketball and a member of the synchronized swimming program both tested positive in recent weeks. The basketball team and swimming program both practice at the Y.
