Westport Sunrise Rotary to hear local writer talk technology

Westport novelist and former business executive Jim "E.J." Simon will speak on "The Growing Influence of and Dependence upon Technology in Our Lives" at the Westport Sunrise Rotary breakfast meeting next Friday.

The meeting starts at 7:30 a.m. at Bobby Q's, 42 Main St. It is open to nonmembers for a $12 fee, which includes a breakfast buffet.

Simon's debut novel, "Death Never Sleeps," explores the power of technology in daily lives and the potential of artificial intelligence to change the concept of life and death, Sunrise Rotary said in a news release. It is set primarily in New York and Europe, but includes several scenes in Westport.

Before launching a new career as an author, Simon had been CEO of GMAC Global Relocation Services and had held senior executive positions with Prudential Financial, Sears Financial Services and Cendant Mobility (now Cartus Corp.).
