kicks off Saturday
"Discover Trumbull Restaurants Week," a new effort to promote the town's dining establishments, kicks off Saturday with a varied menu of fixed-priced meals at nine local eateries.
Organized by the Trumbull Economic Development Commission and the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, the special three-course meals will be offered through Oct. 18 at the following restaurants: Asian Village, Corner Deli, Ichiro, J. Porter's at the Marriott, Long Hill Deli and Grill, Marie's, Marisa's, "O" Bar and Grill and Old Towne Restaurant.
"There's no question that our residents are interested in dining out, as well as in increasing the dining choices here in town," Deborah Cox, the town's economic development director, said in a statement. "So, we wanted to highlight and support our existing businesses, while we simultaneously work toward increasing future choices."

World Kite Day
Kites will soar Sunday over the Woodmont United Church of Christ, 1000 New Haven Ave., in conjunction with World Kite Day.
The program starts at 12:15 p.m., and the community is invited to gather and launch their own kites.
The observance is promoted by the program One Sky One World, which promotes protection of nature and the environment, encourages respect for cultural diversity, and advocates understanding between people at home and abroad, according to the organizers.
