Staples standout to be named to Connecticut Hall of Fame this month

Pat Hennig, Chair, is pleased to announce the six new members who will be inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame at the annual induction ceremony on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

These six exceptional individuals have contributed to the growth and history of the game of soccer in the state and will be honored for their achievements with enshrinement in the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame.

This Class of 2018 will join the 157 members inducted since the CSHF was founded in 1999.

Kevin Murphy

While playing at Staples High School, Murphy was named all FCIAC (1975-1976); All-State (1965-1976); All-New England 1976.

While at the University of Rhode Island the team captured the NEISL, Yankee Conference and New England Championships. They played in two NCAA berths (1978-1979).

He was drafted by Chicago Horizons (MISL) in November 1981 and then by the Detroit Express in December 1981. He played for the Detroit Express (ASL).

Kevin was inducted in the University of Rhode Island Soccer Hall of Fame in 1996 and the New England Soccer Hall of Fame in 2011.

Induction Dinner Information: Saturday evening, January 27, 2018

This special event will take place on Saturday night, January 27th at the Radisson, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell, and is open to the public.

Tickets for this event are $55 per person and $25 for youth 12 and under.
