'Schizophonia' on tap for culture festival in Westport

Schizophonia, a musical project from guitarist Yoshi Fruchter, will be presented Saturday, Jan 25, as part of the Westport Radical Jewish Culture Festival at the Conservative Synagogue of Westport. The free concert, at 9:30 p.m., is sponsored by the Center for Jewish Arts and Literacy and the Jewish Twenties and Thirties group.

The concert is an exploration of cantorial music found on early 20th century recordings and films and re-imagined through a contemporary lens. Schizophonia features Shanir Blumenkranz on bass, Brian Marsella on keys, Yoni Halevy on drums, and Rich Stein on percussion, in addition to Fruchter.

Following the concert there will be a wine and dessert reception with the artists.

Rabbi Greg Wall, of Beit Chaverim Synagogue, a saxophonist and producer, founded the Center for Jewish Arts and Literacy.
