A 68-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a car Wednesday afternoon on Long Lots Road.
Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the site of the collision about 3 p.m., where the motorcyclist was lying in the roadway after his Suzuki motorcycle collided with a 2008 Nissan Altima on Long Lots Road near Burr School Road, police said.
The motorcyclist -- identified by police as William Pitt of Weston -- was administered emergency medical care for what police said were "serious" injuries, and transported to Norwalk Hospital for additional treatment.
The Nissan driver was identified as Rosa Catterina, 70, of Norwalk.
Police said the preliminary investigation of the accident Catterina was driving east on Long Lots Road and failed to yield the right of way to Pitt's motorcycle, which was headed west. They crashed when the Nissan turned left in front of the motorcycle, according to police.
Catterina, who remained at the scene, was not injured, police said.
The accident remains under investigation by police; no charges have been filed.
