WESTPORT — A Danbury man was allegedly caught driving drunk in Westport twice last week.
An officer pulled over Bradford Brown’s car May 9 around 6:30 p.m. after a call about a vehicle driving erratically near Turkey Hill Road South, police said. After watching Brown swerve, the officer stopped the car, and Brown failed a field sobriety test, according to police.
Just three days later, on May 12, police said the 50-year-old was again caught driving under the influence. That Friday around 7:15 p.m., a woman called police from the Turkey Hill Road South area to report Brown left her home and took her car without permission, according to police.
The woman allegedly told officers Brown had spent the night because he had nowhere to stay. The woman woke up Brown, who had been intoxicated and sleeping upstairs. Brown stormed out and drove off in her car. When officers stopped the car, they said Brown refused a field sobriety test and was arrested.
Brown, of Forty Acre Mountain Road in Danbury, was charged with operating under the influence following his May 9 arrest, and with operating under the influence and using a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission following his May 12 arrest. He has a May 17 court date for the first charge and May 22 for the latter two.
