Ecstasy, amphetamine cache seized from NY man in Westport, cops say

A day after police charged a New York man with trying to sell a large amount of marijuana in town, another New Yorker was arrested Sunday and charged with possession and sale of a cache of the hallucinogen drug ecstasy and amphetamines.

The arrest took place on Treadwell Avenue about 5:50 p.m. when police, acting on a tip, stopped a vehicle driven by Gregory Gottman, 39, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Gottman's car was searched by police, assisted by the K-9, Koda, and more than four pounds of MDMA, a pure form of the narcotic ecstasy, was uncovered, according to the report. Also seized were ecstasy pills, methamphetamine powder and amphetamine pills, police said.

Gottman was charged with the sale of hallucinogens, possession of narcotics, illegal storage of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer / investigation.

He was held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear June 18 in Norwalk Superior Court.
