Citing need for space, Apple dealer moves to Norwalk

TBI Computer, the authorized Apple service center and reseller, has moved to Norwalk after 20 years in Westport, saying it outgrew its space on Post Road West.

TBI on Monday moved into larger quarters at 181 Westport Ave. (Route 1) in Norwalk, two miles west of its former location.

TBI said in a news release it had outgrown the 1,500-square-foot space it occupied in a converted house at 52 Post Road West.

The new, 3,000-square-foot storefront offers greater visibility, room to expand the classes TBI offers, brighter space to display products and greater flexibility, the company said.

TBI said it has had "significant growth" in its small-business accounts in recent years, and those businesses need more training and support.

Owner Judy O'Meara, who founded the company in 1993, said TBI would be able to provide better service at the new location, but did not want to move far from its Westport customer base.

"One very important factor in making this decision was the convenience (for) our Westport clients," O'Meara said in the news release. The company did not consider moving any farther from its former site, she said.

The Norwalk location is on the north side of Westport Avenue at the corner of Lufberry Lane, opposite Splash Car Wash.

The company's technicians are certified by Apple, TBI said. It sells an array of Apple products, including desktop and laptop computers, iPods, iPads, servers and software, according to its website.

The phone number of the new location is 203-222-1878. The company website is www.tbicomputer.com .
