WESTPORT — A 41-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol following a motor vehicle stop in Westport, police said.
Around 12:30 a.m. March 24, an officer observed, via stationary radar, a vehicle traveling 57 mph in the 40-mph zone. The car drove over the while road line, nearly striking the officer’s car, which was on the road’s shoulder, police said.
When police pulled over the vehicle, officers detected an odor of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. They asked Michael Tayler, of Arcadia Avenue, to exit the vehicle and perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.
Tayler was additionally charged with speeding, and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released after posting a $500 cash bond ahead of a scheduled appearance April 3 in Norwalk Court.
