One of the nation’s leading urgent care chains is urging men to “man up” this Father’s Day.
American Family Care — which has urgent care centers around the country, including many in Connecticut — has announced that it will offer a complementary screening developed specifically for men on Sunday, which is Father’s Day. The effort, called the “Man Up Checkup” is in conjunction with National Men’s Health Week, which is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention each year during the week leading up to Father’s Day.
Underlining the importance of the effort is a recent survey by the Cleveland Clinic, which found that 60 percent of American men don’t go for an annual physical.
The health screening features eight simple tests that help identify preventative measures for illnesses - including heart disease, the leading cause of premature death in men in the U.S. In addition to offering the health screening at no cost on Father’s Day, the Man Up Checkup is available at participating AFC clinics seven days a week, without an appointment, for only $49.
