That’s what voters wanted — a governor who loves to dance.
Gov. Ned Lamont was sworn in Wednesday, and at the galas that followed the festivities Lamont, apparently overtcome with sheer joy and excitement, decided to cut a rug and, boy that rug sure was cut. To ribbons.
To the tune of “Play That Funky Music,” no less.
Twitter user Chris Soto, captured the esteemed governor’s moves, and posted them online. It looks like the governor was attempting to do the running man, maybe.
Soto is Lamont’s legislative affairs director.
“Get yourself a Governor like @NedLamont who isn’t afraid to live his best life and dance like no one is watching,” Soto said on Twitter.
Other users were quick to follow up, noting the famous “Seinfeld” episode that centers around Elaine’s spastic dance moves.
“Sweet. Fancy. Moses,” Chuck Stango said on Twitter
Maybe Lamont is just trying to go with the zeitgeist.
A video featuring newly elected U.S. Rep. Alexadria Ocasio-Cortez dancing surfaced last week, and she followed up with yet more dancing.
“He's no @AOC but we'll take him,” Twitter user Mary Donegan said of Lamont. “Welcome to Hartford, Governor Lamont. Happy to have you here.”
