A 50th anniversary screening of the classic horror film “Rosemary’s Baby” is set for the Avon Theatre.
The 1968 Roman Polanski movie stars Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes as a Manhattan couple who move into a historic Central Park West apartment building only to learn it houses a coven of witches and devil worshipers.
Based on the best-selling novel by Ira Levin, the hit film launched a series of occult thrillers that would include “The Exorcist” and “The Omen.”
The film earned veteran performer Ruth Gordon an Oscar for best supporting actress. She plays a nosy neighbor who turns out to be part of the cult plotting against Rosemary.
The Avon is showing a recent digital restoration of “Rosemary’s Baby.”
