If you can’t make it to Los Angeles for the Oscars, several area arts organizations are having their own parties to mark the occasion of the 90th annual movie industry awards night.
The non-profit Avon Theatre in Stamford lays out a red carpet for its 7 p.m. party which is one of the theater’s major fundraisers. A buffet supper is served and best dressed prizes are given out at the end of the evening. Tickets are $100 for Avon members and $125 for the general public. The Westport Cinema Initiative is hosting its first Oscar party at the Birchwood Country Club. The red carpet event starts at 7 p.m. and includes Oscar commentary throughout the night by the critic Susan Granger. The event includes a buffet dinner and open bar. Tickets are $125. The Ridgefield Independent Film Festival is having its party 7:30 p.m. at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. The event will sport a red carpet entrance, waiters will pass hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktials. A live auction will include vintage Hollywood memorabilia.
