The Borck Junior Golf Tournament at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield ended Wednesday afternoon with Birchwood's Adam Friedman and Sarah Vimini, of Fairfield Warde, claiming the boys and girls championships, respectively.
Heading into the semifinal in the morning, Ryan Levy and Finn Boynton, medalist from Monday's first day of play, faced off.
Levy, of Tashua Knolls went on to beat Great River's Boynton 3 and 2.
As for Friedman, he went on to beat Brooklawn's Tom Gannon in the semifinal round 2 and 1.
Going into the championship round, Friedman faced off against Levy, whom he defeated in a hard-fought match 4 and 3.
Over the final 10 holes, Friedman made putts of 70, 30 and 25 feet.
Levy knew he was going to play against a really good golfer after he defeated Boynton in the semifinal.
"I really wasn't expecting to get this far," Levy said. "My goal was to get as far as I could in match play. That was definitely my best moment of this tournament; getting to the finals and actually knowing that I might have a chance to win this thing."
Friedman, 16, won a Junior PGA Championship qualifier June 24 at Hudson Hills Golf Club (N.Y.) by shooting a 68. Two weeks later, Friedman finished in a tie for eighth at the Junior PGA Championship. Friedman shot a 152 over the two day tournament.
