Etherea Vocal Ensemble, a chamber group specializing in the performance of choral repertoire for treble (high) voices, will be heard in concert on Sunday, March 30 at Christ & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
The 4 p.m. concert at the church will be followed by a meet-the-artists reception.
The ensemble was founded and is directed by countertenor Derek Greten-Harrison. A countertenor is a male voice singing in the female range. Etherea has released two CDs to critical acclaim, both placing near the top of Billboard's Traditional Classical chart and the iTunes Classical chart, and has appeared at venues throughout Connecticut. The group will make its New York City debut at Carnegie Hall in June.
The Westport concert will include music from the ensemble's second CD, "Hymn to the Dawn," with accompaniment by harpist Grace Cloutier and keyboardist Alan Murchie.
The concert concludes Christ & Holy Trinity's Music & Arts season for 2013-14.
Tickets for the concert at the church, on Myrtle Avenue and Church Lane, are $35 for preferred seats, $30 for adult general admission, and $10 for children under 18. Tickets can be purchased by calling 203-227-0827; online at www.chtwestport.org/tickets, or at the door if seats are still available.
