Starting today, Westport Library's maker-in-residence for the month of July, Joseph Schott, will start taking things apart. The session will start a month-long "Un-Making" series in the library's MakerSpace, which will focus on taking things apart in order to understand them better.
The objects and tools will be provided by the library, and the completed disassemblies will be catalogued in photographs. The program is free and open to all ages, including children with adult supervision.
Since all objects supplied for the workshops will be free of hazardous materials, participants may not bring objects to take apart.
The session today will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Another session is planned for next Monday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The remaining sessions will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 6 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon, for the rest of the month.
