"Your Downtown," a new town-sponsored initiative to promote revival efforts downtown, has been launched.
The first steps in the campaign -- an interactive website, www.downtownwestportct.com, and an online downtown survey -- are designed to inform the public about the downtown master plan process.
First Selectman Jim Marpe, in announcing the initiative, urged residents to complete the short survey.
The website will serve as the main online portal for news and information about the evolving master plan, and gives the public a chance to comment and provide feedback, Marpe said in news release.
The purpose of the survey, linked to the website's homepage and also available in paper form, is to gather baseline information on how Westporters feel about the center area and what changes they might like to see in the future.
For those who cannot access a computer to take the survey, paper versions and drop boxes will be available at the Westport Library, the Center for Senior Activities and the Town Hall lobby.
In addition to the website and the survey, several "Your Downtown" events are planned over the next several months to promote citizen involvement.
Events, including a workshop and a multi-day charrette, will be announced on the website and local news outlets, the release said.
Marpe and the Downtown Steering Committee will work with the town's civic and cultural organizations to urge their constituencies to participate in the planning process starting by completing the downtown survey.
The DSC is providing guidance and technical assistance to the consultant team, led by the RBA Group, in developing the master plan.
The full membership of the DSC can be found on both the town's and Your Downtown websites.
The town anticipates completing the downtown master plan by September.
