The Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Ave., has announced the following activities:
Monday, March 10: Registration for second-quarter classes running from April through June begins at 8:30 a.m. for Westport residents only. Registration for nonresidents begins March 17. A schedule of classes is on the center's website, www.westportct.gov/seniorcenter, and available at the center.
Tuesday, March 11: From 1 to 2 p.m., wellness consultant Adam Propper will give the presentation "Whole Food Supplements and Nutritional Cleansing for Better Health." Propper is a board-certified chiropractor, and the center said he is an expert in anti-aging and pain management.
Wednesday, March 12: AARP tax counselors trained by the IRS will be available from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help low- and moderate-income seniors complete their federal and state tax returns. Appointments are required and may be made by calling 203-341-5099. The program will continue each Wednesday through April 9.
Thursday, March 13: From 5 to 6:30 p.m., dietitian Holly Betts will conduct a cooking class focused on easy, healthy cooking for singles or couples. The class will prepare peasant-style, chicken-sausage soup and mustard bread. Cost is $6.
Friday, March 14: Yale literary scholar Mark Schenker will give the lecture, "The World of Downton Abbey," at 2 p.m. He holds a doctorate in Victorian literature from Columbia University and is Yale College's dean of academic affairs.
Saturday, March 15: A Saturday Social is planned from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., featuring lunch followed by bingo with prizes. The menu includes roasted Asian pork loin, twice-baked potato, broccoli, tomato and cucumber salad, ice cream and beverages. Cost is $7.
