Pompanoosuc Mills has finished renovations to its new showroom at 222 Post Road West, completing its relocation from across town, the retailer of hand-crafted Vermont furniture reports.
The store had been at 1100 Post Road East in the Post Plaza for a decade, manager David Noseworthy said. The store moved into the new space in November, but renovations were completed last week with installation of a new sign, he said.
The new, 4,000-square-foot store is about half the size of the previous location but puts Pompanoosuc Mills in a shopping center with other home-design stores, including Bel Mondo, Artee Fabrics, J. Pocker frames and prints and Capel Rugs.
The furniture store's new location previously was occupied by Capel Rugs, which moved to second-floor space in the same building.
Noseworthy said Pompanoosuc's previous location at Post Road East and Morningside Drive, in the same plaza as the Barnes & Noble book store, was challenging because of the configuration of its parking lot. A major plus of the new location, he said, is that the mix of tenants make it a home-design destination.
The retailer has been in Westport for 25 years. It's first local store was on Post Road downtown, opposite the old Post Office.
