Norwalk man charged with forgery after pulled over for speeding

WESTPORT — A Norwalk man was charged with forgery after he was found with fraudulent drivers licenses and checks after a routine traffic stop.

After pulling over Andy Mitchell-Maynard, 22, for speeding on Hillspoint and Hales roads on Oct. 27, police detected a strong smell of marijuana which led to a search of his vehicle.

Police found two fraudulent drivers licenses and two business checks in his vehicle.

Following the discovery, Mitchell-Maynard was taken into custody and charged with forgery in the second degree and forgery of symbols. According to police, he was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive in proper lane and traveling unreasonably fast.

Mitchell-Maynard was released after posting a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Nov. 8.
