'Nonbeliever Nation' author to speak at Westport Library

Steven Niose, author of âÄúNonbeliever Nation: The Rise of Secular Americans,âÄù and an advocate for the separation of church and state, will speak at the Westport Library on Feb. 10.

David Niose, an advocate for the separation of church and state and the author of the book, "Nonbeliever Nation: The Rise of Secular Americans," will speak Monday at the Westport Library.

The program, at 7 p.m., is sponsored by the Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County.

Niose is the legal director of the American Humanist Association's Appignani Humanist Legal Center. He'll speak on the rise of secular Americans, and the status of litigation on issues such as teacher-led religious recitals in the public schools, religious symbols installed on public property and religious requirements in the military.

Admission is free to the program in the McManus Room of the library, 20 Jesup Road.
