A Norwalk man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after being stopped by a police officer on patrol early Sunday.
John Mages, 49, of Valley View Road in Norwalk, was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and disobeying the signal of a police officer.
The incident took place after an officer observed a vehicle being operated recklessly on South Compo Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the report.
When the vehicle was stopped, "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" was detected coming from the operator, identified as Mages, police said.
Mages failed roadside sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested, police said.
Bond was set at $500 bond and he is scheduled to appear Feb. 19 in Norwalk Superior Court.
