A Westport man faces charges of stealing copper downspouts from a local home and trying to sell the material to a scrap metal dealer.
Gregory Gabriele ,43, whose last address was the Jesup Road homeless shelter, was charged with fourth-degree larceny Monday afternoon.
He was arrested at Lajoes Scrap Yard in Norwalk, police said, after surveillance photos at the scene showed Gabriele removing the spouts from the home. Once in custody, police said Gabriele admitted to the theft.
He was released after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 30 in Norwalk Superior Court.
