Making stuff happen: The MakerSpace at the Westport Library continues to celebrate creativity and innovation -- and, simply, making things -- when it joins a national salute to the Maker Movement planned Wednesday in conjunction with the Maker Faire hosted that day at the White House.
To underscore that mission, the library's MakerSpace plans an open house from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Visitors can check out 3-D printing, as well as some of the recent projects at the MakerSpace, like the new Design Thinking Center.
The U.S. Embassy in Russia invited Westport Library officials to teach maker skills and concepts to librarians in Moscow last February, and some of that presentation will be part of Wednesday's program.
Through a one-year grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the library has been exploring ways to expand offerings to the public to design, create and produce for both work and play.
