Letter: Race needs a flag for anthem

Thanks to the Westport Young Woman's League for a splendid event: the annual Minute Man Race. It was very well orchestrated, as always, though if something could be done about the chilly breeze off the Sound, that wouldn't hurt either.

There is one thing: Every year the first selectmen addresses the crowd, then there is a rendition of the national anthem. Everyone stands respectfully, but I notice others as well as myself instinctively looking around for the flag they are serenading. Perhaps for this occasion an American flag can be raised over the race ground for the runners to salute during the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner."

Or, maybe, install one permanently.
