A Westport couple has completed their purchase of a former garden center on the Post Road in the Southport section of Fairfield, where they plan to move their food emporium from Westport.
Paula and Jason Garelick have closed on the $1 million purchase of the half-acre parcel at 3611 Post Road in Fairfield, according to HK Group, the commercial real estate firm that brokered the deal.
The Garelicks plan to move their Garelick & Herbs food store from Westport to the Southport site was approved by the Fairfield Town Plan and Zoning Commission last summer.
Plans call for construction of a 4,525-square-foot, one-story retail building with an 800-square-foot basement.
The store's current site on Post Road East in Westport is about three-tenths of a mile from the Southport parcel, which was sold to the Garelicks by Jonathan and Christopher Woods.
