A forum on proposed changes to bus service in Westport is planned next week.
The open house will take place Wednesday, April 9, for the public to comment and ask questions about the plans for service offered by the Westport Transit District. The session is set for 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall.
The findings of the Westport Bus Service and Needs Study, conducted by the South Western Regional Planning Agency, are designed "to improve" bus service in town, according to planners. The study was initiated after the cost and effectiveness of local bus service was critically questioned during budget hearings for the last several fiscal years.
The recommendations of the study will be outlined at the forum, and feedback from the public will be sought. Staff from SWRPA, the Westport Transit District and members of the study team will be on hand to discuss the study and answer questions.
