A driver who police said was speeding early Friday on Strathmore Lane was charged with fleeing from officers, who later used a stun gun to subdue the man and take him into custody.
The incident took place shortly after midnight Friday, police said, when a driver -- identified as Thomas Patterson, 41, of Weston -- was pulled over for speeding. But when the officer approached Patterson's car, he sped off at a high rate of speed.
Police chased Patterson down a dead-end street, where he left his car and fled on foot, according to the report.
He was chased into a back yard where he was subdued by police using a stun gun.
Police said he refused to submit to an alcohol breath test.
Patterson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving with his license under suspension, reckless driving, traveling too fast and engaging an officer in pursuit..
Bond was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to appear July 14 in Norwalk Superior Court.
