Cops: Three men caught stripping pipes from Debra Lane house

Three Bridgeport men were caught in the act Monday of stripping copper pipes from a Debra Lane house slated for demolition, police said.

The men were discovered in the home's basement by the demolition contractor about 3:45 p.m. Monday, according to the report. The contractor told police the three men were in the basement cutting copper pipes from the structure, which the report indicates would likely then be sold by the suspects as scrap metal.

The men, whose rental truck was blocked on the property by the contractor's truck, were taken into custody by officers called to the scene and charged at police headquarters.

The men were identified as:

Hector Luis Ramirez, 47, of Granfield Avenue, Bridgeport; Yero Walker, 32, of Saint Stephens Road, Bridgeport, and Rolex Webb, 18, of Hollister Avenue, Bridgeport.

Each was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools.

Bond for each man was set at $25,000 and they are scheduled to appear Aug. 13 in Norwalk Superior Court.
