Michael Walsh, 41, of Bridgeport has been charged with criminal impersonation after police said he identified himself as his brother during a traffic stop for speeding.

A man was charged with criminal impersonation when police said he identified himself as his brother Wednesday after a traffic stop for speeding.

Michael Walsh, 41, of Amsterdam Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with criminal impersonation after, police said, he initially gave officers the name of his brother. That, police said, was an attempt to prevent them from learning that his own driver's license was suspended.

Besides the criminal impersonation charge, Walsh was charged with driving while his license was under suspension, failure to have the minimum requirements for insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

He was held in lieu of $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 4 in Norwalk Superior Court.
