WESTPORT — A concerned call to police resulted in a drunk-driving arrest Saturday evening after a caller reported a car driving abnormally then followed the car and watched it pull into a parking lot.
Police said they reported to the parking lot of Fresh Market, 605 Post Road East, around 7:15 p.m. Aug. 5 after the caller said a car had been driving erratically. Officers found the car and its driver, Matthew Wemple, who failed field sobriety tests, according to police.
Wemple, of Main Street in Wallingford, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence. He was released on a $500 bond and the 58-year-old is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 14.
