Christ & Holy Trinity Church is presenting its 11th annual "Christmas Lessons and Carols" on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m.
The festival of anthems sung by the choirs of Christ & Holy Trinity and traditional Christmas carols sung by the congregation, combined with readings associated with the season, is performed in the style of King's College, Cambridge.
The church, 75 Church Lane, will be festooned in holiday greenery, and the service will be lit by candlelight. A traditional yuletide reception, complete with Christmas cookies, mince pies, and sausage rolls, follows immediately in Branson Hall, adjacent to the church.
The service will be presided over by the Rev. Whitney Edwards, the newly called rector of the parish, who has just moved to Westport from Portland, Ore. This year's program includes carols by British composers David Willcocks, Grayston Ives, and Reginald Jacques, along with "There is no rose of swych vertu" by the contemporary American composer Stephen Caracciolo.
There is no charge for admission, but donations are welcome.
