Connecticut isn't the only state that embraces movies that take place at home. Illinois falls for Chicago-set "Home Alone" and "Vermont" settles in to watch "White Christmas."

In general, TV sets in New England and the northeast will be aglow with cozy classics like "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life." The semi-Christmas classic "The Nightmare Before Christmas" is popular in the southwest.

The two top movies overall–claiming the top spot in a combined 18 states–are "Home Alone" and "Elf." Surprisingly, "A Christmas Story" only shows up for one state–though TBS has cornered the market on that film with its annual 24-hour Christmas Day marathon.
